The tragic accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. local time as the bus, reportedly carrying over 40 passengers, was navigating a narrow, winding road notorious for its sharp turns and lack of guardrails. According to eyewitnesses, the driver appeared to lose control while attempting to avoid an oncoming vehicle, causing the bus to veer off the cliffside and tumble approximately 200 meters into a rocky ravine.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene but were hampered by the difficult terrain and poor weather conditions. As of this evening, 23 bodies have been recovered, and several others remain unaccounted for. At least 12 people have been injured, some critically, and were airlifted to nearby hospitals.
