Knock, knock … it’s #DOGE

Elon Musk, known for his unpredictable online persona and meme-driven influence on cryptocurrency markets, has once again lit up social media with a viral post that simply read:
“Knock, knock… it’s @DOGE” — accompanied by an image of himself wearing a mock police badge labeled “Doge Patrol” and a grin that could only mean trouble… or a price surge.

Within minutes, the phrase #DOGE was trending globally on X (formerly Twitter), reigniting speculation about Musk’s next move with Dogecoin, the meme-based cryptocurrency he helped catapult into mainstream awareness.

Meme or Market Move?

While the post seemed tongue-in-cheek, Dogecoin’s price spiked nearly 12% within hours of Musk’s tweet, reminding traders and crypto enthusiasts of the billionaire’s enduring sway over digital markets — even when no major announcements are made.

Crypto analyst Leah Morgan commented,

“With Elon, even a knock-knock joke can move the market. It’s part entertainment, part influence. Investors should tread carefully — and never underestimate the meme economy.”

A Badge, a Meme, and a Controversy

The photo showed Musk holding what appeared to be a fake law enforcement badge numbered “69420” — a not-so-subtle reference to two of Musk’s favorite internet joke numbers. Critics, however, didn’t find it funny.

Some users online accused Musk of “mocking law enforcement” or “using his platform irresponsibly.” Others, however, celebrated the post as vintage Musk: irreverent, random, and brilliantly timed.

“It’s Elon being Elon. The man runs multibillion-dollar companies and still finds time to post memes like a 16-year-old on Reddit,” one user wrote.
