Austin, TX – For most people, the idea of working nonstop for three months straight sounds exhausting. But for Elon Musk, it’s just business as usual.
The billionaire entrepreneur, who leads Tesla, SpaceX, X (formerly Twitter), and several other ventures, revealed in a recent interview that he hasn’t taken a single day off in over 90 days. Not even weekends.
“There’s just too much to do,” Musk said, speaking from the Tesla Gigafactory in Texas. “If I stop, things slow down. And we can’t afford that right now.”
From overseeing rocket launches to pushing forward Tesla’s next-gen vehicle production and managing AI development at xAI, Musk’s schedule is packed 24/7. Insiders say his days start around 7 AM and can go well past midnight, with meetings, technical reviews, and even late-night coding sessions.
His intense work ethic has long been a topic of fascination — and concern. Musk famously slept on the floor of Tesla’s factory during the Model 3 production ramp-up and has said in the past that “nobody ever changed the world on 40 hours a week.”
While some critics argue that this lifestyle isn’t sustainable, Musk remains unfazed. “I’m not doing this because I have to,” he explained. “I do it because I believe in the mission — and time is short.”
As his companies push forward on ambitious projects — from colonizing Mars to developing fully autonomous cars — Musk shows no sign of stepping back. For now, at least, rest will have to wait.
